Arriving in San Jose a day before my departure, I was introduced to Xandari. Wow, what an amazing place! The colors and plants and all the art work and design of this place really have a beautiful and unique quality that stand out among other places I have been. Truly a gem!
The architecture was breathtaking! Colorful and smooth! Fluid zen like lines. All accented with lush plant life and mosaic artwork. And the views....wow! Whether by day or night, both were amazing! Looking down the valley at the city of San Jose and over to the other side where the green towering mountains surrounded the city was truly picturesque! The sky was always a bonus to the view. Deep beautiful shades of blue with large puffy clouds, to brilliant sunsets and even the blanket of stars in the night sky!
The variety of plant life here was incredible. Plants from many parts of the world, in various sizes, were all thoughtfully placed and cared for. The Orchid House was very sweet to see. A tiny greenhouse where many different species of orchids were growing. Many I had never seen before! The smell was wonderful!
Also got to visit the farm and gardens where the majority of the properties' food supply is sourced. There were goats and chickens moving about. Even got to see the coffee plants and where they grew their strawberries! Yum!
So you can imagine that our meals were amazing! The chef there really knows how to play with the flavors! I really enjoyed my meals there! As you can see the chocolate mousse with blackberry sauce made it into the sketch :)
We did get to enjoy some of the amenities too. More in a later post.
My only regret was not getting to meet the husband (architect) and wife (artist) team that built this place! Their passion for life and love was very palpable in every detail! Even the people who have worked there for years spoke very lovingly of the couple!
I can totally see why Bill loves this place so much! I am thrilled to share in his love for this place!!!
